FAQ: FAQ

How do we get started?

You can call or email me using the information on this page, or simply use the form on the Contact page of this website. We will then set up a meet and greet at your home with you and your pets. We welcome input from all family members. Even if you have no immediate needs, this ensures we can care for your pets at a moments notice!

Feel free to write up a list of any special needs, habits, concerns, etc. But if you don't - that's ok, we'll have a checklist of questions for you. The more information you share, the better we can care for your pet. We'll get all the forms filled out and you can have some peace of mind knowing that if anything comes up, all it takes is one call or text to Pawsome Pet Care and your pet will be taken care of with love and kindness.

We can review any schedules and perform a booking during the meet and greet, or you can contact us with your future travel dates. We strongly recommend early booking.

Will you walk my dogs?

Sure! If you normally walk your dog, it's a great idea to ensure they are walked when you aren't around. As long as your pet is somewhat manageable on leash (or harness, halti, etc.) I'm happy to take them for a walk. And if you need something longer than what I have listed under my Services, no worries - we will create a custom package that suits the needs of your pets. I have even walked cats! During a few volunteer days at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah, I walked cats who were accustomed to either a harness or being pushed in a baby stroller.

I have no current plans to travel, but may have to on short notice. And sometimes - I have to work late on short notice. What should I do?

Follow the same steps as in "How do we get started?". We'll do the meet and greet so when you do travel, and we have availability, all we need to do is update any changes to your pets since our meet and greet. We can easily do this over the phone.

And because I only serve a small local area, I should be around for your last minute emergencies.

My pets are all rescues, and they each have very different needs. Do you have any experience with rescues?

I do! Mine are also rescues, and have a few strange habits here and there. In addition to my personal experience, I've been a long time volunteer with a local humane society, our local Animal Evacuation Volunteers, Humane Society of the United States, and ASPCA where I was deployed to care for animals rescued from hoarding and other criminal situations. While I often think I've seen it all, I know I haven't but am great at adapting to any pet's needs.

Do you have experience with rare or exotic pets?

I'm sorry, but I don't. However, if you are willing to show me how to safely care for your pet, I'm willing to learn. All types of pets deserve to be well cared for!

Who actually cares for my pet?

I do (I'm Ellen, use the About link to learn more about me). While of course I do have back-ups in case of emergency, I am always the designated caregiver. Any backup personnel are fully briefed, and you will be notified if there will be a backup. If there is a planned absence, I always have the backups meet your animals - and you are free to meet them as well. Because I'm only serving a very small area near my home, there's not much that will keep me from getting to your animals.
